A Seminar : welcome to a new format
A WORKSHOP is essentially a practical exploration of an art. The focus is on the active practice, there is very little theory and it is always related to the unfolding of the exercises.
In a SEMINAR the focus is on the THEORY that stands behind a practice. It is mainly a space of reflection and intellectual elaboration: it creates a space of discussion, analysis, examples, questions and synthesis. It gives food for the mind, references, history of ideas, articulation of principles.
Etymology tells us that the word theory means something you observe, a spectacle, and it has the same root of the word theatre. A theory is a choreography of ideas and principles. An intellectual perfomance to attend and enjoy.
This seminar will include different ingredients:
- Lectures on pedagogic theory
- Core exercises
- Pedagogic analysis of core exercises
- Discussion on the questions from the participants

- Jacques Lecoq: The Clown as a Mask of the personal comedy
- Gestalt: The Clown as the amplification of a form emerging
- Reichian Analysis and Bionergetics: The clown as a somatic character
- Process Work: the Clown as an Altered State
- Pedagogic analysis of different approaches to clown:

Action Based Clown: slapstick, absurd, eccentric, gags

- The Teacher as a process facilitator, and his different tools.

Teaching and playing at the edge between the Personal and the Poetic
- Pedagogic analysis of the core steps of the Red Nose Process in Giovanni's practice.
From the neutral state to the comic state: movement analysis of the body in space
The Red Nose as a mask: mask take, amplification and articulation of movement
The clown state as an Altered State

ADMISSION
The aim of this seminar is to explore the foundations of Giovanni's pedagogy of Clown from the perspective of the teacher. It is addressed to those who have already studied Red Nose Clown with Giovanni and are active teachers, and who wish to explore the theoretical ingredients of this work, as well as to develope their own teaching perspective.

HOW TO APPLY
There is no application form.
To apply to the Seminar please email
a letter of motivation sharing the essence of your story, vision, dream, desire, fear or un-explicable intuition that leads you to this seminar. Please include in your letter your experience teaching clown, and for what purpose you apply for this seminar.
Giovanni will contact you after receiving the application.
Once accepted, to confirm the enrollment, a deposit of 200 US$ is due.
Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.
TUITION
Early Bird Discount: US$ 450, if tuition is fully paid by July 1st, 2016.
Full Price: US$ 550.
Please note that tuition does not include accommodation and that participants will be responsible for organizing their staying in Boulder. Upon request, we can provide a list of useful information and contacts on how to organize your staying in the beautiful Boulder.
A limited number of WORK-EXCHANGE options is available. A reduction of the tuition will be offered in exchange for the following works:
-Transcription of the recordings of the classes
-Video recording of the seminar
-Video editing
