Boulder International Clown Training 2014: CLOWN'S LIFE

22 Settembre, 2014  → 9 Ottobre, 2014 - Boulder, Colorado

Boulder Advanced Workshop 2008

This workshop is an in-depth exploration of the poetic world of Clown, an archetypal comic space for the actor-creator and a key step in the journey of movement based theatre.

This advanced workshop will go into the depth of the clown state, through the analysis of the physical and emotional world of the actor, as revealed by her or his natural body with the help of the Neutral Mask. The use of this Mask will deepen the clown state and will allow a profound connection with the core movement patterns of each person. This will lead to the unfolding of a unique clown, with a peculiar state of perception of reality.
The poetical power of the clown is based on an extreme emotional openness and vulnerability, a vivid articulation of the present moment, and a very naïve approach to the world.

The Clown is a poetic transposition of the actor’s most intimate space.
As the Neutral Mask is the mask of humanity, the Red Nose is the humanity of the mask.

Once the individual clowns have emerged, the journey of the workshop will guide them to the exploration of themes of everyday life, like love and relationships, illness and death, power and hierarchy, social conventions and institutions such as education, politics and health care... The final step will be the approach to poetic writing and each actor will work on a clown monologue and on clown scenes. The final step of the workshop will be a performance of the devised acts of the clowns, presented to an invited audience.
